I don't know the answer to that, but I did it. First a psych class, because it sounded interesting and is taught by the guy who taught the other psych class I took, so I knew he knew if I disappeared for a week -- out of a six week course -- I'd still probably do well in the class. And I am going to disappear for just over a week out of a six week course... (Going to visit a friend, who needs my assistance in welcoming in her new age. My husband's birthday present to a girlfriend of mine is to send me to visit for a week! YIPPEE!)
And I also have the whole fertility treatment thing going on, so I'm a little nuts most of the time, and a raving lunatic now and again, too. Which he knows. He also knows that I may have to disappear for those treatments, too...
And tomorrow I see a cardiologist.
It's not like I don't have enough going on right now. Why on earth did I sign up for a class that requires I read a minimum of three chapters in the text each week???
And what will I do when it's math, in five weeks? When I will have to get through a semester's worth in six weeks?
Am I completely out of my mind???
Don't answer that. Please.

Ahhh, the summer courses! From what you have said I gather that you appreciated the first psych class you took under this prof. I am inclined to believe you will enjoy this one as well despite the work that comes with it. I have found that even with a full schedule, there is usually a means of fitting in an activity you are passionate about. Try not to worry too much about being crazy. Last summer I took a 5 credit genetics course and after eight weeks of counting flies & prolonged exposure to ether, "crazy" would be a kind way of describing my mental state. But I survived. It may not be easy but I'm sure you will too.

If you're completely out of your mind, I'm in good company. ;) Not that I'm taking a summer session, but my university plans qualify me.
I wish you luck and sanity.

I'm registered this summer,
but not taking classes. I still need to go to school. Sit at my desk, daydream. play on psychobabble. do some data analysis. Run some experiments. write a couple of papers. Read some articles. Oh, yeah, write a dissertation chapter.Maybe I should aim to write a chapter every month (except July. I'm going on Vacation in July)
Summer is the worst. I always think to myself- this is AWESOME- all this time, no classes. I'm going to SO MUCH research done. and I disappoint myself every time.
Oh, but since I'm registered, at least I can go to the gym and the library, and the student health clinic and get cheap drugs- that's something? right?

I know y I signed up for summer session, I just can't figure out how I can achieve my standard level of procrastination in a measly 5 weeks.

Well, the standard semeester is what? 13-14 weeks. That means 2 weeks of work at the beginnning of the semester- to make a good impression and then 1-2 weeks of work at the end of the semester, to prevent failing the course- leaving 10-12 weeks of giddyfull procrastination in the middle. Kinda like dubblestuffed oreos. Sounds so good in the store. kind of nauseating after you've eaten a few though.
5 week summer course- that's 1 week to make a good impression, and 1 week at the end to prevent failing. only 3 weeks of procrastination (sigh). It is tough indeed. well. you can always take an incomplete, and use the rest of the summer to get some quality procrastinating done?
