https://dr-bob.securesites.com/cgi-bin/pb/signup.pl
i think this is the link...you go to it and update registration adn then click OK to accept babble mail. In case it doesn't work, my emial is xxx. Just so you know, If you send to my email directly though I can then see your email, but babblemail is set up so that the recipiant can not see it. then to send a babblemail you click the name of the person above the post, it should be highlighted blue for me, but it isn't for you, cuz you still need to do it through registration.

Thanks tkmphd

FYI, rainbowbrite,
You do not have babblemail turned on for yourself, either. If you did, your screen name would show up as a link and would be clickable.

Also, I forget, but do you have a T on campus? Can you get one if not? One of the things I do with my clients who are stuggling with exactly what you are describing is help them break down their tasks, see what they need to do, and contact their professors to see what accomodations can be made. Sometimes I will will write a short letter asking for an accomodation for the client, and it does help. It may result in an extended deadline or an incomplete. Anything that gives the student some breathing room. And it usually does not require that I disclose what I am seeing the client for.

Have you thought about that? Also, mental illness is also condidered a disability under the ADA. You can register with your school's disability office, and they can also direct you to any and all resources which may help you get through. Their mission is to help students get through school. So don't be shy or proud about it. Take what's there for help if you need it. And it's never too late.

Hang in there. You CAN do this.

It is on, I have used it before?? I have recieved babblemail.
Maybe it is just in students that it isn't on.
no i stopped seeing my T, I have a pdoc but...I give up. I screwed up recently, alot especially with the person who could help me with this. I have been a disaster for the last month. I don't think there is any thing left for me to do except break down in front of the school..I guess that is what you are saying to do....just tell my profs how I feel? I wish I could just laugh this off with them at school but I don't think I remember how to laugh today. I think I am in a state of panic right now, or anxiety or what ever it is.
crying must be clouding my cognitive abilities to think this through rationally. I am such a loser! I really hate myself right now.

I sound really awful right now....

I wish I could help more. And you know what? You are right. On other boards, your ID shows up ready for Babble mail. I wonder what's up with this board. Weird.

Just keep on plodding along. And do talk to your profs if you think it can help. Incompletes aren't that bad, but you DO have to finish them.

i am teaching undergraduates at the moment, and i have had students that have provided me with documentation, as gg was mentioning, that will buy you some time w/ professors.

can you throw yourself on the mercy of the health center? how big is your campus? is there a counselling center there? if not, go to your health services center and try to see a regular doc and fill them in on what is going on. they can provide documentation that you are being treated for a medical condition (they'll keep it vague) and that you need extra time to complete some assignments.

some professors will offer incompletes. an incomplete at our school shows up as an 'i' on your transcript and you have a year to complete the coursework. if you do not complete the coursework after a year, the grade will automatically turn into an F. a year is awhile though, you can do it!! some professors might give you some extra time w/ assignments if that is all you think you need.

i had a student w/ some anxiety issues that she spoke to me about. she had the medical center go through the student disabilities office and they communicated with her professors.

i would say that you should throw yourself on the mercy of the health services or the counseling center at school. universities are equipped to handle this kind of thing, believe me, i've used them at every school i've ever been to. i promise that you are not the first person they are seeing in this same situation.

you will get through it.

I did end up speaking to someone about it today to no avail. I hate making a big deal about things, but i will look into an incomplete. I think I have overused what is available to me this term, this is why I am more panicky than I normally would be. I hate crying in front of people and this is what it will come down to. I hope you are right about not being the only one, it definatley feels like I am the only one there who is like this.

Can someone explain to me what is happening, why am I having problems forming sentances? I look and I read and then I can't do anything else because what I read doesn't make sense and writing seems impossible? HOw can stress be doing this much cognitive damage?

Thanks

>
> HAHAHA

Oh. Yes, do go to google and have a look.
I just meant don't you dare keep loading the page to find an appropriate essay to submit.

It is a random essay generator.

It is a sort of joke at 'postmodernism'. The idea is that while the randomly generated sentances are syntactically correct they don't actually mean a hell of a lot...

But if you keep reloading the page...
Generating random essay after random essay...
Something sensible and appropriate may be generated eventually.
If a million monkeys typed for a million years and all that...

I guess Im posting becasue I am hoping for a miracle of some kind and if I don't let it out anywhere where will the miracle come from? I just feel so alone right now, things are not working in my favor (I am trying) and it is hard to manage it all right now. I can't even take notes during lectures anymore. I am trying to build the strength to go to someone higher about this but Im so embarassed and truely hoping I will pull through this.

Rain,
I think you need to look at what non-miracle options you have. Truly, you will find relief once you take some active steps. And even just taking some pro-active steps, like talking to your profs or the counseling center will bring you some emotional relief. I can almost guarantee it.

I hate to say it, but there are very few miracles. And your chances are better at the lottery, frankly.

Can you try to get an appt. with someone at one of the centers? The sooner you do it, the more time you will have to implement whatever plans they help you work ou.

You can do this. Even if you feel like you have burned out your resources, if you are sincere in desiring help, and you work WITH them to work out a plan and to implement it, I can't imagine them not helping. If they don't want to help you, you just call me, and I'll come over and kick them in the shins. 'k?

And let me just add that I have worked with lots of students in your situation. You are not the only one who has had a crash like this. And actually, it's not uncommon for this to happen as it gets closer to the end of a semester, the end of a year, or the end of an academic career.

I know I have lots of resources available to help the undergrads and grad students I work with. I'm sure I have a doppelganger over there. In fact, I bet she's nicer and maybe even doesn't have depression. Maybe she's even finished her dissertation, who knows?
