repression?

I did 2 stage 1 and 2 stage 2 papers in English at the Uni of Waikato... At some point there was this supposed big kerfuffle about whether the text should be understood in isolation of the historical context in which it was written or not.

I was more interested in universals so I moved into philosophy. I was more interested in the content of what was said in the search for universal truths. I was less interested in history. Mostly because I felt that I wasn't really able to immerse myself sufficiently in it... the information I was fed... It is hard enough to make sense of what is going on as we are immersed in a present time... I don't really have a handle on how to understand history.

I think I enrolled in a class in ancient history -- but that was going to focus on military strategy which was not interesting to me. And NZ history was not interesting to me, either, mostly because... Well... It's a government newsfeed if ever there was one. It didn't feel like a class that would encourage me to... Expand my mind. It didn't feel like a class that would challenge me or anything. It felt like a propaganda in platitudes campaign. A collection of little catchy phrases like they teach you in AA when they indoctrinate you into believing you have a disease that will stay with you and be in you forever and you are required to stay within the cult interacting frequently with members within the cult 'not thinking about alcohol, do not think about alcohol, do not think about alcohol' every single day as long as y'all shall be allowed to live...

So it's interesting to think that the main defence of much of what Freud and so on said was that... He was led to say various things because of what was going on in teh world at the time that was affecting the people in certain ways.

So, for example, vienna culture was very repressive. Because the women weren't able to or allowed to speak publically or amongst or between themselves... They weren't even really able to speak to a Psychiatrist who was being paid by their husband or father to help them and report on their progress...

What was responsible for Freud to write about his patients given the culture or climate at the time. What was in the interests of... The patients? The person paying him to keep the patients as happy as the patients could be kept given various things about their circumstances that were not negotiable for changing...

Was it Winnocott??? Someone... Wrote about having one face for the world and quite another behind closed doors. How the people could go to work and follow orders or instructions or expectations where the fairly obvious outcome of their actions was the death and destruction and torture and abuse of so many people.... And, apparently, we are supposed to believe, those same 'efficeint' and 'effective' employees... Would go home and happily play with tehir children and make sweet sweet love to their wives.

How they could be split like that...

Without any apparent leakage. Apparently. We are supposed to beleive. That they didn't leak, at all. We are supposed to believe that they were attentive and caring at home.

Is that really plausible?

I don't suppose their wives and children had things like.... Prima Facie private internet message boards.

Etc.

It just doesn't seem plausible to me.

Psychologically.

It doesn't seem plausible to me.

(That is another reason why I dropped English. I wanted to understand about people. Not 'because I am Autistic' but because I wanted to understand... And I felt that 'hollywood' portrayals of people... Were not psychologically plausible. Were not coherent, or something. So... Well, the Hollywood psychopath. Someone like Dexter... I find him to be something of the 'impossible character' (analogy with impossible triangle). He's not a coherent character... I don't believe it could be the case that anybody would exist who was like that. He is a fantasy. Unsustainably... Hannibal Lecter...)

Anyway...

It doesn't seem at all plausible to me that someone would 'just follow orders or instructions' to turn on the gas where they knew the effect of turning on the gas was the mass extermination of a group of people... Or whatever... For people to be 'just following orders' rather than acting in a way that was coherent or expressive with or of their own... Desires. Enjoyment. Believes...

And for them to go home and act authentically. To be sweet to people when they had the power to choose how to be...

I don't know.. When I put it like that.

It seems more plausible to me that the child abusers and wife abusers would thrive and flourish treating more and more and more and more people the way they choose to treat their spouses at home...

And then just blame 'I was only following orders' when it was time to face the consquences of their decisions.

I mean...

Apparently Ashley Bloomfield's wife works in something to do with Ministry of Health procurements or something. So... Who do do business with when they get vaccines or face masks or whatever. How much money we pay for those things. What, if any, is sold on to what other countries for how much profit...

My point is she has an independent career from him. HIs half a million dollars per year salary isn't to support his wife and 2 kids...

They are a two income household.

How do they keep their kids?

I mean... Do you suppose Ashley orders lock-downs for the entire nation... And gives his kids freedom to choose?

Do you think he would be sensitive to their interests and needs and desires? He has the resources to really raise them... To identify the education people who will teach ethem the things that he values.. To pay them to be authentic in teaching his kids the things that Ashley values. Etc.

Right?

He can afford (and presumably he has the knowledge) to hire good quality people with integrity when it coems to him needing to go to the doctor.

No?

Is he not psychologically plausible??

I mean, how is it supposed to work, exactly.

Ashley earns half a million per year as a 'civil servant' to serve the people of New Zealand.

His wife is earning, too, so let's be generous and say he is to contribute... 1/2 the costs? Of his children's education.

But he's a 'civil servant' so I suppose he is entitled to give his children the very very best of what New Zealand public sector has to offer. I don't know if they go to their local public high school along with all the other local kids in the suburb he chooses to live in...

I would suppose he needs to earn enough to live in a suburb where he can convince or persuade himself he's a 'civil servant' raising his kids to be comrades with all the other 'civil servants' kids of new zealand...

really kicking it with the kids of the teachers and nurses and doctors and police officers and military... the kids of the ministry workers... all the civil servants. right there with ashley's kid. in teh school with 1 air purifier for the whole entire school (for the principels office?)

?

?

?

is that your life, ashley?

i guess it was 'stay home'. and then i guess you couldnt' get a teacher to come to your house to privately tutor your kids so you could top up their pay to what they were supposed to be earning if and only if they agreed your kids were those with the most of the answers when compared with the rst of the class.

i guess it's all documented in 5g
