Hello

Posted by Deneb on February 16, 2014, at 1:29:34

I haven't been reading Babble lately. It's nice to see Dr. Bob posting! It's the same as usual with me, but I'm going to start searching for a better paying job. I'm only making a few dollars over minimum wage right now and I really want to finally move out and get my own place.

My lifestyle will take a deep dive if I moved out with my current job so I need to make more money. It would be a lot better if I had a boyfriend or something but with my single below average income times will be tough.

I've gotten into the habit of traveling to neighbouring cities to play my game. Rides hares and couch surfing make it more affordable, but the eating out part can still get expensive.

I find myself needing to go out every single day now. I can't stand being at home for an entire day.

The Chicago meet up sounds interesting but I don't have much time to go! I don't think I can make it. I'd have to take Friday off for sure as the travel time would eat up all of my time otherwise. It's too short notice to take Friday off.

I'd definitely like to visit Chicago though and hopefully I can say "hi" to Dr. Bob too when I'm there. :-)

Hi Deneb,

It would have been nice to see you again, but if you get to Chicago eventually I don't live far away.

I finally got a job and am paying off credit card debt that amounted. I'm lucky that I'm not single and my husband could pay the mortgage and other expenses. I totally get you needing a better paying job to live on your own. Rent, utilities, etc. all add up. I hope you find something soon.

Hey! Great to hear from you, and wonderful to hear that things are going well for you. You are more courageous than me with coach surfing - I mean a number of my friends do it and I really do expect it is safe enough - but I don't have the courage to meet / stay with new people like that.

Have you thought about seeing an employment agency about getting a better job? It is a bit unclear to me how they work, but I hear one way they work is by commission so it works out to be in their best interests to get you something higher paying if possible. It surely is more expensive to live by yourself than to live with others. Especially parents since they just buy stuff (like food) and pay bills often without expecting you to contribute your share. Maybe you could flat / share a house / apartment with a person or two? Can be cheaper than living by yourself and you have someone else to take care of bugs and stuff..
