I woke up with 5 minutes to spare today and took my 60 mg Prozac on an empty stomach. It was a really bad idea.
On my way to work I started getting really bad heartburn and felt nauseous. I had to take some heartburn medicine or something. It was bad so I went to work and promptly told them I couldn't work right then. Anyways, I needed a medical note.
I went to the walk-in clinic I usually go to, but discovered that they no longer take walk-ins at all now. They are appointment only.
So then I called work and told them I may not be able to get a medical note today and that I'll take some medicine and hopefully I can just take it to work late.
But then I still did not feel well so I called them again saying I was going to try another clinic and that I still didn't feel well enough to work.
So I just went to the other clinic. Ugh, I wish I could go home and take a lot of heartburn medicine or something, but I have to get this freaking medical note! Thankfully I was able to get an appointment with my doctor today for 2:20. I hope I can get a note and a flu shot while I'm there.
Anyways, I'm stuck waiting on campus right now for my appointment and I just bought some Rolaids.
I'll probably feel better soon. I wish I could have gone to work, but I didn't have any heartburn medicine with me and it was going to be torture for 7 hours.
I can't wait until I work evenings instead of day
shift so I actually have time to eat breakfast first. I think I just need to eat something before I take my Prozac. What a stupid day. I hope I don't get into trouble at work. I think I sounded like an idiot, calling them 3 times with all these explanations and saying maybe I could come to work, then saying I couldn't yet. Argh.
It really doesn't look good to have to miss work during my 2nd week of work. I just feel awful about it. I'm still on probation right now for this new job.
Ugh. I'm going to take another Rolaids and maybe some Gravol.
Anyways, I learned my lesson I think.
What a stupid reason to miss work.

Don't feel bad about it. I find that Zoloft and Prozac can cause THE WORSE heartburn. It's so freaking painful! You should keep some Malox (sp?) in your apartment.
You needed a medical note if you were going to miss just one day? Usually a note is only required if you miss more than 3 days of work.
This is the end of the thread.
