Windows Media Player 9 and above - need help

Posted by rjlockhart04-08 on January 19, 2010, at 21:33:35

I'm trying to get napster music on windows media player and it keeps say "windows 9 player" or higher required. When it refer's me to the microsoft website, there is alot of things to choose from and I don't know which one is correct, and plus I noticed if I download something that isnt needed, it stays on my computer and takes up harddrive space and it's really annoying.

Does anyone know where to directly get a updated media player? can you link it here>

I don't even know what version I have, I know I have Windows Vista Premiem home edition operating system.

Anyhelp would be great.

M

I don't think you have to pay, it links me to a website that has Windows Media player 11 version but there's just too much stuff to choose from. And if I download something that doesnt really relate to what I need it get's saved on the computer somewhere and it takes up harddrive space, and I can't find where the unused downloads are on the computer.

You just simply click and it downloads, it's like a update for windows.
I just can't find the correct version Napster is asking for....i have a 15 doller card I got for christmas for napster now I can't use it until I get the right media player going

Could you post the link to the page you're getting? If you have Vista you should already have Media Player 10 at least

It won't accept alot of the stuff there.

Down at the bottom there's a link forWMP 10:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=b446ae53-3759-40cf-80d5-cde4bbe07999

try that, although I think Vista is supposed to have WMP 10 already. Maybe the problem is that Napster isn't recognizing your installed WMP.

Do you need WMP to play licensed music for Napster? If it's just plain MP3s or any other non-protected file format then there are a ton of free players out there you can use. I use Winamp as my player and though it's big and clunky it's still my faourite: http://www.winamp.com
