My mom tells me not to eat sweet potato

Posted by Deneb on October 11, 2008, at 23:17:11

I recently bought some sweet potato because I read that it's a very healthy root.

My Mom saw all the sweet potato and tells me not to eat it because it will make me fat.

Then I said, but the whoppers you buy me won't?

I told her anything can make you fat if you eat too much of it.

I'm trying to eat healthier right now. Telling me that I'm going to get fat is not helping.

Sweet potatoes and yams (two different things)
are some of the healthiest foods on the planet and Phillipa is right. I wish your mom would stop saying things like that to you so you would not be so hard on yourself. You have enough stuff to worry about...

It's fattening for me----I only eat it with lots of butter and salt. They're actually very good for you. If you want to skip the whole butter and salt thingy---there's always sweet potato pie.
