Some good 'stopping drugs' etc news re son

Posted by Kath on March 29, 2008, at 20:59:02

Since I've received SO much great support & love & caring here, I want to share that my son is doing way better.

He's involved in making music...he's talking stopping smoking......he's talking stopping drugs....he's more 'himself'.

I'm being pretty successful at being calmly pleased. Instead of anxiously anxious!!

Just wanted to share the good news. I'm a litte edgy about actually writing it in case I 'jinx' it, but hey - that's probably silly.

So, to all my wonderful caring supporters & friends, isn't this great news!

:-) Kath

PS - & ya know, even if it doesn't happen altogether, he is at least thinking about it & talking about it & saying it's "time" in his life to do this. And saying it when it's NOT an emergency. If it happens, it does. If not, at least he's heading in that direction.

Oh yes - & he's starting to talk about going to music school too. Thinking about going forward in a positive way in his life. THAT's something to be thankful for, for sure.

PS2 - he's not talking stopping drinking! But bit by bit.

Kath how wonderful for your whole family. And I think the music school is very positive. Baby Steps like the movie. Love Phillipa

That's one of my favourite movies!

There are so many good changes lately. I'm actually getting used to no emergencies lately!

Makes me feel somewhat edgy, but I'm getting better at just enjoying it & TRYING to expect the best (or at least 'neutral' - I learned that from Group Therapy)

hugs, Kath

That's great news, Kath.

Just the *desire* to look after oneself (independant of doing too much about it) is important, and perhaps not something that comes naturally to young people.

Thx Dec,

Today hubby & son & I went for a winter walk in a beautiful forest. Things really ARE changing. He's talking more & is more relaxed & happy.
Today he was talking about maybe getting a membership at a health club.
Such positive changes.

It feels so good to be able to report these positive changes & yes - even him just talking about these things or thinking about them...
it's a start.

:-) Kath

Hi Kath,

You're right that your son thinking of going forward in a positive way is something to be thankful for. Thanks for sharing the good news and good luck to your son.

Good to hear Kath. I'll send him som positive vibes. I'm glad he is thinking about pursuing the music aspect. I always thought he'd do well with that.
