lol. Took the tree out today and there's a trail of pine needles from the living room to out the front door. Need to clean the fridge out of leftover turkey dinner and get the floors and bathroom washed. The first clean-up of the new year. Will get up early tomorrow and start the clean-up, which will be good since I plan on quitting smoking tomorrow. Will be good to keep busy.
So who else has holiday clean-up to do?

I have Major sorting to do.
Have be tackling dusting, bit by bit. Was spurred by fluffs of dust wafting into the air when I took a book off the bookshelf in the living room. When I actually did proper dusting (moving things on shelves etc) the damp dusting cloth was disgusting & needed rinsing at various times. I need to do this through my whole house. The bathroom is the one room that I seem to keep on top of. It's really small.
The kitchen isn't TOO bad except I'm sure the tops of cupboards are awful (& top of fridge) etc.
The basement can't even be mentioned! Well, hardly - boxes & boxes & piles of stuff :-( ugh.
good luck, Kath
PS - my friend & I keep saying we're going to help each other & we never get around to it.

Well, I will be thinking of you dusting as I mop and scrub tomorrow. I place a towel on top of the fridge that pretty much covers the whole top, keeps the top cleaner and easier to just wash the towel. A little trick if you've not thought about it.
Thanks, Kath. I am actually looking forward to the smell of pine and lemons.

lol. It's not my favourite thing either Seldom. Once in a while though the mood does grab me and I don't mind. My resolution for the new year is to clean one room every other night during the week after work and dinner to keep on top of things, and manageable in a three bedroom apt, so that there is less to do on the weekend.

Good idea - I should come up with a simple schedule also.

Hi lovelorn,
When I'm not depressed I actually like cleaning the house. I even dust the tops of the doorways. I know, scary, though right now I'm depressed so that dust is gathering.
I sympathize about the pine needles. Our ten foot plus tree honestly didn't look that tall on the tree lot. Good thing our living room ceiling is tall LOL. I'll have that trail of pine needles tomorrow when it goes out the door.

wow. A ten foot one! Yes, you will have quite a trail. What's funny is when you are cleaning in July and come across a pine needle or two that got stuck in the corner or under some floor trimming or something.
Yes, I've been through depressed periods and it is very difficult to keep house when you are experiencing one.
Anyway, I am glad to say all the rooms got done except my bedroom and some laundry which I will tackle tomorrow. I think I will have a nice candle-lit bath in my freshly scrubbed tub before I go to bed tonight.
This is the end of the thread.
