Things i like about Texas:
Southern Hospitality - i mean if i lived in New York i would totally die, mean, caffianted people. Well i've run across a couple here.Laid back- well, i just see people out in starbucks talking about investmants, and their "land" they bought out some where...
Texas Grandma's - well if you go to certain parts of texas their are sweet grandma's that cook chickin', cookies, and always have a shotgun. Ill have all it ready when the BUBBAs come by.
Texas Weather - their nice days in texas where the area is completely flat, kids can go play, drink and have a cook out. This of course in the suburb's.
Texas FOOTBALL! - man i tell you when football is here it is here! there is no stoppin people from watchin! omg kickoff! TURN ON RADIO!
Dislikes about Texas:
Depressing sometimes: the land here, is not the most buietify you see. Its really flat, kinda just see trees that look dead, this in the plains. Just Acres of just land! and cows! Not the Celebrity State: now when it always comes to texas, things are bigger here. Bigger houses bigger land, bigger ego's, but there is not just alot of celebities here. This is a controversal question.
Rodeo: Rodeo are so popular in some parts of texas, i mean im suprised my grandma didnt make me watch the rodeo...inspired to be one.
Texas Beer: There are more people you will ever see in convineint stores after 5pm buying beer, i mean its like the texas tradition. Beer, Money, Football, and land.
Long highways: dallas and houston are good, we all have traffic, like any others. But sometimes it takes time to get places. I mean but 635 in dallas is one of the worst, i think it fits on with the LA freeway.
Cowboy Hats: cowboy hats kinda went out in texas, well not at Country Fried Stake Bars but bedies that where not all "gruup!"But i love texas. Anyone agree? opinions? comments please be free. Its southern Hospitality here on this post!

What about Texas music? There is so much good Texas music that I've heard.
And there's all these way out people who live in Texas.
It wasn't at all what I'd expected. One day I heard this minister from Texas on the wireless who had written a book.
It was his job to comfort, hold the hands of, and stuff like that, those on death row, up to and including the actual process.
He'd done that for maybe 50 people, most of them black.
It shouldn't be strange, but listening to the interview I was astonished that this most interesting man spoke just like the President (to my ears).
He sounded like a deeply decent man, with such hard things to say.

Really? Sorry i was refering to the last segment of what you where talking about.... a minisiter?
There alot of country here, but country music i think is more provendent in Oklahoma. Alot stations here have mainstream. Texas is real spread out. Ill tell you thats a fact. Fields, barren in alot parts. But near houston and dallas its not.Who was this minister?

It's a few years ago now, and anyway I never recalled his name. He was just on the radio when I turned it on, talking about his book and his life.
When I say minister, I just mean religious officer type person, you know, priest, or pastor. I can't recall his title, but I looked around and found this
"Within These Walls: Memoirs of a Death House Chaplain"
It might have been him.
One reviewer says 'I don't think I have ever read a more dull and boring book', but that's not how I found him.
He was riveting, if it was him.

Obviously I don't know what you heard on the readio but I read a recent newspaper story about the guy in that book and assume that's the right guy.
Browsing the Amazon reviews I think the one-star reviews are basically just pro-death penalty folks who don't like the idea that a chaplain would change his mind after seeing the process up-close. Or else people who just think anyone on death row is not a human being anymore. (Maybe there's a lot of overlap there!)

Could you identify what you are wanting to mean here by your use of the word that I have deleted? If you could, then I could have the opportunity to respond accordingly.

(I certainly didn't mean to start a discussion on the death penalty.)
This bloke hardly mentioned his opposition to the death penalty till the end of the program. What he talked about was the people, how they felt, how they coped, and how he was involved. One of them might have, I think I remember, asked that he hold their hand at the last moment. He said he had to reply that that was not allowed, but that he could stand near him and touch him and maintain eye contact until the moment of death. Stuff like that.
I was so impressed.

Is that really only in TX!? Drive thru liquor stores rule!!! I think everything should be drive through.
What else I like about TX.... well I've always wondered if the whole holding the door open for a woman thing was just TX or everywhere. I mean, literally, a dude will apologize if he inadvertently lets the door close a few feet in front of you. So yall tell me, is that everywhere? I've always wondered if the whole Southern Hospitality thing is real or a myth. And really, its not just a man/woman thing, I'll stand there and hold the door if someone is even remotely close. And for the elderly or disabled (or someone carrying stuff) its just a given.
Ummm, lets see, I guess when its freezing everywhere else and 70° F here its pretty cool. But then, when its 85° F everywhere else and its 115° F here its not so cool (no pun intended).
TX traffic sucks. I hate 75 more than 635 myself your#1fan. And as much as I LOVE Austin I've heard the traffic sucks worse there than anywhere!!!
Basically the best thing I like about TX is my precious nephew is here. If it weren't for that, I'd probably have moved a long time ago. Not the TX is bad (I really do have a strong bond with TX, otherwise I wouldn't be TexasChic!), but there are other places that I would fit in a lot better. I love the New England area, and of course the liberal CA areas call to me. Then there's other countries, Australia especially. Or someplace tropical. Like where you imagine when you listen to 'Margaritaville'.
But although I wasn't born here (I was actually born in Traverse City, Michigan - which I can't remember) TX is my home. Its what's familiar. Plus the best Mexican food and Margaritas ever!!!!!
