Son returns tomorrow/husband has operation.. :-((

Posted by Kath on January 28, 2007, at 19:38:31

My husband goes in tomorrow at 6:30 a.m. to have his gall bladder removed. This has been booked for some time. He's scared cuz he's never had an operation before, but has had bad GB attacks so is relieved to be having this taken care of.

My son was to have arrived at 8 p.m. tonite. Flight delayed 'til at least 1 a.m. so he'll be home tomorrow.

I've had a hard day; easier since knowing his flight was delayed.

I'm pretty freaked because I am suspecting that his GF is pulling away. I might be reading things into things she's said, son saying she is seeming distant etc. I'm wondering what's going on. She says she's going back to BC in a month to stay with the friends who've taken over the apartment. I feel like just asking her if there's something going on, but she will lie if under stress, so that wouldn't be any good.

My ex-husband had an affair, so I think I'm being triggered BIG-time. And I don't even know if anything is happening. My hubby, who is pretty 'grounded' says given all the things that have been being said, etc, he also wonders!

I wouldn't blame her for pulling away in a way, but I hate to think of my son having THAT to deal with as well as everything else. I'm trying to stay in the now. It is REALLY hard. I don't even feel like myself!!

:-(( Kath (I think!)

Kath oh wow you have a lot to deal with tomorrow. Do you sleep well or have something to help you? You may need it. If his girlfriend is going to leave best now than later. He will be home with his family and feel safe. Love Phillipa

Thx Phillipa,

yup I usually sleep well. If not, I have warm milk & honey, calcium & valerian/ Calm Fortes if necessary.

you're right about GF. I might be over-reacting also. We'll see.

I just spoke with bio-Dad & he assured me that unlike in the past years, he's going to be involved in this situation even though it'll be long-distance (I've been doing it long-distance).

That felt good.

I'm heading to bed now. Thx for your ongoing support.

love, Kath

Hi Kath,

Man, when it rains it rains hailstones the size of gall bladders. You have far too many stressful things happening at once, that you are able to sleep amazes me. I'd be pacing the night away.

I hope your husband's operation went well and his recovery goes quickly. I'm glad your son's bio dad is going to be there for him, that hopefully will reduce some of your stress. Your son's GF has been through a lot with what was going on with him before he went into the hospital, maybe she's a little afraid that he'll get into a bad state again and that's why she's pulling away. Once he's back and she can see he's doing better she might stop pulling away. He definitely doesn't need the stress of losing his girlfriend (and definitely neither do you.)

I'm holding light for you.

Kath,

I hope you're making it through today o.k. and that your son got home safely and that your hubby made it thru surgery. You certainly have alot on your plate today.

I hope your son's GF is just a little nervous about how he's gonna be now that he's home. Like Poet said maybe she'll relax a little after she sees he's doing better.

Keep us posted on how things are going.

(((((((Kath))))))

Be well. Stay safe.
Regards,
Kat

Son HOME - biggest HUG known to mankind!!! » Poet

Yup - gallbladder-sized hailstones!!! LOL

Hubbie's operation went just FINE & he's feeling pretty good, so that is good.

Thanks for holding light!!!! and for your support. It means TONS to me.

At the airport my son & I had the LONGEST HUG KNOWN TO MANKIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was LONG!!!
& kissed on the mouth!!! "Gramma kisses" of course, but NOT on our cheeks. This kind of stress & turmoil has brought us even closer than we already were (which was pretty darned close)

Their flight last evening (their time) was delayed so they left at 1 in the morning (their time) & arrived at 9 this morning here (7 for them) so they are exhausted. Had to pick up hubby & they got to visit their good friend for a bit while I did that, but finally arrived home around 3 & they both konked out!!!

He seems to be doing pretty well. He's still not right out of the dillusional thoughts, but knows the voices are in his own mind & is ignoring them. Can you believe that he decided he'd try a 'coupla beers on the plane to see how it went'
???!!! A COUPLE!!!! Fortunately, it went OK - he said that it made the voices not bother him.
He also said that he would not be drinking anything else before he sees our family doctor & asks him what he thinks! GAWD.

Anyway, he has agreed to see his Case Worker with the Canadian Mental Health HOPE program tomorrow (Helping Overcome Psychosis Early) - what a great program. He'll have also a social worker, a nurse on hand & a psychiatrist.

All in all (the beer part aside) I'm feeling pretty good about things.

When we stopped for GF to go into a store & buy a toothbrush, she said to him, "Are you coming in with me Babe?" & he said, "No Babe, I'll stay here" & when she left, I took the opportunity to ask how things are between them & he said they'd talked on the plane & things are good.

That's a relief. I'm still not 100% comfortable, but I guess that remains to be seen, right? I'm trying to view it as everything being OK.

You're right....she HAS gone through hell. She looks pretty haggard in her face.

Yeah - isn't it amazing that I can sleep?!! But my little concoction of all the things I take seems to do the trick most times.

MAN am I going to sleep well tonight!!!!!

Thx Poet
