Well at least no stitches hold it under cold water and apply pressure. Oh I wonder if those new gluey bandaids I've heard of work? Love Phillipa

That hurts.

I know you'll make sure to keep it clean, but why don't you treat it to some ice cream or whatever makes your body happy.

How self-indulgent can one person get?

But I thought I might offer you an update on my thumb. It still hurts and has bled for a large portion of the day.

However, that didn't stop me from going to my tiger place and bathing it in raw chicken for a good portion of the day.

I gave it a nice iodine bath and re-dressed it so I'm hoping that I have staved off gangrene.

And yes, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Sorry about your thumb but I gotta be more self-indulgent than you. It's always about me.

trust me, you DON'T want a tiger.

I love them - they are some of the most awesome creatures I've ever seen. But they are predators.

I've seen a lot of people interact with tigers and evidentally it is hard for humans to think of them that way. We take in so many cats from private owners that thought they can handle them.

You can't tame them, you can't develop relationships with them, and if people don't know what they are doing all they can do is cage them up and hope for the best.

Frankly, they stink too. We have enclosures that are 5+ acres and you can still smell the cat.

Actually tigers don't purr. The cats that roar (lions, tigers, jaguars and leopards) can't purr. But other than that, they are strikingly similar in behaviour to house cats, just on an 800 lb scale.

I will leave you with a quote. I don't know who said it and I'm not trying to push religion on you, but it really stuck with me as an apt description of human nature.

God loved birds so he created trees.
Man loved birds so he created cages.

Was there something about me in your post?

Really, isn't that what Dr Bob's site is about? I post, and then you fawn over and love me to pieces? Sometimes we ((hug))

I especially like being "loved to pieces" although it has a certain Columbo murder mystery quality.

I'm a bit of a zealot -maybe you gathered that ;).

I would love for you to come visit our facility or one near you.

We are open to the public - as are a lot of sanctuaries. I would be happy to help you to come here or find one close to you.

Just babblemail me.

One last thing, if you think tigers are cool (and they are) you should look into leopards. They are just outright scary scary scary.

When a leopard looks at you, you just know they are thinking "I will eat the arm first, and save the legs for tomorrow..."

Hey,

Even still drunk, I realize my last post was creepy. Anything that even hints of violence sickens me. And as sexist as this sounds, I especially hate all these freaking movies that involve violence against women.

I'm not a card-carrrying LifeTime Channel member, but I'm believer.

I'm just sick of violence against anybody.

I think it's wonderful that you are passionate about this. There's absolutely no need to apologize :)

That's a cool idea. I have a friend who volunteers with beluga whales. It's amazing to get to know a creature, a wild animal. awe-inspiring. I cannot even imagine it. Maybe when I get some free time, I will check it out. thanks!

I have always had a soft spot (literally?) for tigers. I was on a trek in Thailand and we found tiger prints on the riverbank. Our guide said that they were probably 2-3 days old, but it's enough to send shivers up my spine!

My sister-in-law had a baby tiger kitten as a housepet. It fell down the stairs and perished. Really sad. The whole episode. She probably thought that she could "tame" it? I dunno. Or maybe she was rescuing it from some worse situation. :(

That's why I like cats so much (domesticated and otherwise) because they have so few adaptations for social behavior (lions being the exception) that for us humans to form a bond with them feels truly extraordinary.

I don't like cages either. I rescued my cat from a cage at the no-kill shelter and make donations for other abandoned pets. (((((fluffilykitty)))))

Poor kitties. Well, at least they have a Maddie to give them raw chicken, and perhaps they enjoyed the extra special seasoning your thumb provided (*grin*)
