I try and use logic for things, but I'm stuck on this one. I dont have a family to look after (thank goodness), and I am off sick on the toughest days. So no external pressure.
I really cant find a reason to make myself get up, as after all it is a warm and comfortable and place. I'm not hungry at that point. There is the 'opportunity' of when I have to get up (toilet), but its all too easy just to climb back in.
But there is no other reason. I'm not even hungry at that point.
I do know that staying in bed is meant to be a Bad Thing in general, but dont have any experience to back that up.
What do you do?

If you use logic, then there you have it. There may well be no logical reason to get out of bed. Maybe getting out of bed is more a matter of faith and hope, or whatever it is they call that kind of stuff these days. If things are not good I can spend hours thinking in a vague kind of way that I really should turn on the radio. After 3 hours or so something might click and I turn it on. Then I can enjoy the fruits of my labour.

Think of something you really want to do and start planning how you will accomplish it, it might motivate you to get out of bed.
For me, if I had nothing to do, maybe I would start thinking, "Golly, I really want some waffles."
Then I could start thinking of how I can get some waffles. I can get up, go grocery shopping and buy some waffles or I can get up and go to a breakfast place to get some waffles.
Just keep thinking about how good the waffles will taste.
Just concentrate on that one thing you want to do and don't overwhelm yourself with chores. Do something fun and enjoyable.

because you have to! even if you don't want to, you have to. don't give yourself the option of not getting out of bed. try to think of the lovely things you have to look forward to, the trees changing (are they where you are?), coffee (thast's usually my motivation, even when i had no other reason, plus if you drink a whole lot of percolated coffee you almost get a buzz). a cigarette, checking this board. hey, if you promise to get out of bed everyday for one week then i'll write you a story (maybe you won't look forward to that though :( let me know if i need to put my thinking cap on!

Ta loads for the understanding and the ideas! its so great to hear from other people who face the same problem. And such practical ideas. Easy to feel I'm the only one with this 'guilty secret'
Declan: I do put the radio on, by the way, but just stay put and doze off!
Karen; would be cheating now re getting up every day, as back at work. But ta for the offer! Will work on planning a treat!

oh yes coffee gets me up. and... dare i say... the first thing i do in the morning is check the boards. because people post lots while i'm asleep, you see, and i do HATE to be missing out on things :-(
i'm trying to get into the spirit of:
1) go bathroom
2) put coffee on
3) check babblebut that means i need to get moving at a reasonable hour or i'll miss all of the above before going to work in time(ish) for morning tea!
sigh.
i'm chronic, right?
still... gets me up.
only... if babble isn't going so well... can lead to a bit of a tricky day...
hopeless adict... or something...
:-(
