My mum is due to get married on Saturday to her partner, Arthur..
but, Arthur is c urrently in hospital, really quite poorely with a collapsed lung.. They have ruled out infection, and have tried to get the lung to reinflate, but its being a stubborn lung..
They have found his lngs to be full of "crud" from 50+ years of being a builder, and he was taken down to surgery again this morning inorder to drain more off.. We're now just waiting and hoping this means the lung will inflate now and he can come home and get married on saturday..Mum, as you can imagine, is stressed to the max.. even though I only started my new job monday they've been great and yesterday I came down to Mums (alot of the work at the moment can be done at home anyway) to try and help out and keep her calm..
So please.. any energy you have to spare, could you send it to Arthur and his lung.. and to my mum for some calmness..

That certainly sounds stressful. Prayers and energy headed your way. Good thing there's no TSA for warm thoughts across the Atlantic. No lines. No waiting. :)
I'm happy for you, your mom, and Arthur. And I'd love to hear about the new job and your presentation this weekend.

new job is fantastic.. (its a project management job around hiring a specific type of support worker.. all around the recovery "model", and I have been employed to try and convince managers to be hiring more people with "live experience" of mental illness into these posts. its al around this document if yo're really bored and want a read!! http://www.dh.gov.uk/assetRoot/04/01/94/56/04019456.pdf )
So, I'm still out there, shouting loudly for service user rights and the like.. good employment and renumeration is one of my big things at the moment.. as well as having got very into the whole idea of "recovery", and so have just trained as a trainer to teach recovery ideas!
The presentation will be around acceptance, even of the "norm" *grins* And how using labels can be negative (this is hard to explain on here!) I'll email you privately about this one I think *laughing* But, probably not till monday as next few days get busier and busier! (Mum is up hospital visiting Arthur at moment so I have a few minutes of calm!)

I hope your Mum and her partner are doing better, and that his lung is showing signs of responding. Am sending positive energy in your (and his lung's) direction.
Being a builder can be stressful on one's body, but he must also be strong, and hopefully that that will carry him through this, too.

I've just got home.. very tired, but its been a wonderful weekend, the wedding was beautiful, and my Mum looked utterly utterly stunning!!
I'll share a few photos soon, but I think I'm going to have a glass of wine and a long soak in a hot bath right now *laughing*
