Anyone know how/where I might get a hold of salvaged windows, you know old windows, the wood kind, with or without panes

I know down here that they have specialist building recycling centres where they have doors windows etc from demolitions and the like - they're really popular with renovators.

Try calling a renovator of homes. Maybe one of them is replacing old windows with new ones. Did that once myself replaced old windows with new ones. Fondly, Phillipa

> I've got some ideas.........====Just find some woods. Start walking into them. After a while you will find a trail. At the end of the trail will be an old house and shed with glass broken and ancient old flat beer cans. They wont mind if you take their windows panes.

Try posting that you're looking for them on freecycle. You see them at yard sales, flea markets, stacked up against garages-- just stop and ask for them.
My father in law has been saving some for me when he tears houses down. Can you get to IL? I'll share with you.
What are your ideas? I usually put mirrors into each pane. I have a friend who uses the old wooden screens and paints on them. They're cute, too.

IL is kinda far at the moment, but thanks :-)
I want to use them as a frame, put something behind them, maybe put some different objects there, paint and stuff, I'm not completely sure.
I saw one a couple of weeks ago that someone used sort of in this way, but she used an old window with a board behind it covered in nice cloth, and to the board she glued lots of dried flowers - really very nice. She got the window from a 'habitat for humanity' place that saved stuff from demolitions of old places, but I don't have something like that near me.
I'll be on the hunt......

but you oculd also go anywhere in the country and steal one off a barn ; )
or go to the country or a small town and look around for stores, little shops, country stores that sell jelly : ). Thats the best way.
