I've been living on unemployment for a while now and it barely pays my rent. Recently I had to pay for prescriptions and office visits and got overdrawn in my bank account. The bank charged me $330 in overdraft charges. Now I'm in the negative and the bank will continue to charge $330/day in charges until I get my balance in the positive.
I've asked for help from my parents - but they just hang up on me. I don't know where to turn??
Anyone out there with advice? I'm desperate!!
Thanks
Jerry :-(

damn. for one thing, i'd sure find another bank. if they don't let you cancel your account and pay off the balance in due time, i would seriously consider calling a lawyer or debt counselor (i used moneymanagement.org and really liked them) to see if someone can work out a deal with these folks. that's just uncalled for.
i don't know if wher eyou live has this, but i've lived in states that had job training programs where you could learn a new skill and get a new job. i don't know if that's an option for you.
good luck though. i've been there. it's awful.

See this is how my bank makes money - instead of not paying for checks, etc when my account is overdrawn, they pay the checks but them slap my with a $33 overdraft fee for each item that makes my acount go into the red. It's just wrong......
God...
