I listen to music all day, even when I am at work. I like so many, I don't think I could pick an absolute favorite. One band I have liked for a number of years now is Blue Rodeo (they are Canadian, and so am I eh!). Alot of their lyrics are so moving for me that I could listen to some songs over and over.
Anyway, just wanted to know what others listen to, like and are moved by.

I'm the same way. Up until recently I have always had music on or am singing. There are so many different groups and singers that I love. It would take pages to list them. Maybe I'll just list kinds of music instead. Let's see there's rock, R&B, blues, folk, jazz singing. Hmmmm too open-ended but still don't want to bore you all with a long list. Maybe I'll just mention Leonard Cohen. Anyone ever heard of him? Love his music and his lyrics are the best. (Now I'm really showing my age - and my eccentricity.)K

Another Canuck act. Ever seen them live? We have free concerts on the waterfront every summer, and the Junkies did a show two summers back.

I used to really like the Cowboy Junkies. The lead singer's voice was so haunting and beautiful. Haven't heard anything from them in ages.

~~~ Me too - I like blues, r&b, jazz, rock. Music is a life-force for me I think. I need a healthy dose of it each day. Find it hard to concentrate without music in the background.Leonard Cohen, ah yes. He, I think, is an acquired taste. His lyrics are great, but his voice . . . hmmm definitely an acquired taste. I like to listen to him once in a while, when I am in the mood. I have always liked Jennifer Warnes' album - Famous Blue Raincoat, which is a compilation of Leonard Cohen's songs. It's old, but I still like it.
>Well, a 'friend' of mine, Tom Cochrane (you know.."Life Is A Highway..") did a wonderful version of Cohen's 'Bird On A Wire'...that is just "chilling"! Tom is a great songwritter himself too, and yep...he is a Canuck! (Just lives across the lake from me in Oakville!)
Ok, how about Jann Arden, Amanda Marshall and we can't forget Bryan Adams. Like those three alot. Jann Arden live is a blast - very entertaining. She's funny and talented. Bryan Adams puts on a good show as does Amanda Marshall.
One my first concerts was an all-day outdoor concert with 3 bands: the Eagles, Chiliwack and another band I can't remember now LOL.
When I saw Dinah's post, for some reason a song by Jim Stafford popped into my head - I don't like Spiders and Snakes. And, what about Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road. Silly songs, but I like 'em.
> Jeff BuckleyOh yes!!!! Absolutely increadible...my fave tunes from him are Eternal Life, his cover of Hallelujah, Last Goodbye...that is a *really* creepy tune considering what happened to him...heck the entire Grace album. All of the other stuff put out by his girlfriend later on after his death, from what I know, where not songs Jeff really liked...but she could make a buck off of it..so. "Grace" is THE Jeff album for moi.
Yup, Radiohead. I have most of theirs too :-)
Some of it is a little too depressing when you aren't in the mood though. Actually, now that I think about it ditto for Pink Floyd and most everything I own...Alanis Morrissette too.
Another Canadian :-)
I know a lot of people are violently opposed to her
(and what does 'ironic' mean???)
But I like her.
A borderline if ever there was one :-)'Burn the books they've got too many names and psychoses
All this incriminating evidence would surely haunt me if someone broke into my house
Suits in the living room
Do you realise guys I was born in 1974
Someone here to explain your publishing
LOL :-) I believe you. I was a kid too! I heard a song on the radio this morning that brought back some memories of my misspent youth -Radar Love. That was a great song! Hey, do you remember The Mexican by Babe Ruth? So many good songs from the past. < Sigh > I am feeling nostalgic. Funny how that is - you can hear a song and it seems to take you back to a time in your past.
