JYL,
Sounds like you are respecting yourself just fine. :-) Also sounds like quite an upheaval. Let us know if you need anything/wanna talk.
Keep nurturing yourself...you deserve it.

I am SOOOOOOO proud of you JYL!
And I'm happy beyond belief that you will not be abused today. You deserve that every day.
Even when you are the one making the decision (and even when you are very sure that you are right) these separations can be very painful. I did mine 5 years ago (we were married for 19 years). Please stay in touch and let us cheer you on.
c. wasn't understanding you, and wasn't being kind to you. Your decision sounds very reasonable to me.
(((((JYL)))))
May happier days be ahead for you.

(((((JYL))))),
You did a very brave thing for you and your kids, jyl. It was a difficult and painful decision for you to make and I'm proud of you for making it. You might have a rough road ahead, but having been on it myself, I can assure you, it will get better. You did the right thing.
We are here for you whenever you need us.
Keep taking care of yourself.
