If you're a red wine drinker, here's one of my favorites:
California Big House Red. It's affordable and very drinkable. Also I like the artwork on the bottle.

Yeah, doc, I know, I shouldn't be drinking. But here's my theory: all those red-wine antioxidants
kept me alive. Prost!

Thanks for the recommend, Gracie. I'm more of white wine girl. But tonight...no i think I'd rather a margarita. Wine makes me tired now. What the hell's with that? I can only tolerate certain forms of liquor these days. Champagne...damn; in my 20's, it got me giddy and silly and cute. Now it makes me snooze. Is this a common phenom with aging?

>Also I like the artwork on the bottle.
This also comes in handy when you can't stand up to leave the table...

antioxidants kept me alive.
Oh you bet your bippy!
Prozac lets me get buzzed without feel like crap the next day. i'd highly recommend it. I think my red wine "thing" came from my Nardil days when it was scary to have it then. I think it's ok now. But Chianti could kill ya.

I love German white wine...that Gwertameanershmeener stuff.
You guys gave me some yuk yuks tonight...

Me too! Did you live in Germany? my sis was there for a few years. All I remember about that wine was that there was a little black cat "charm" type of this tied around the neck of the bottle. I saved it and was squashed like a bug when I saw that they sold it here too.

But Linguini (wink wink nudge nudge know whatta mean) might go nicely with it. Let's stay away from the Italian, on 2nd thought...
Isn't it spelled "linguine", btw? Why not chose the name
farfalle
or rigatoni
or penne
or elbow

...little black cat charms! There was another wine that had "heart" charms and I collected those too! Hell I drank anything that would pour. Was stationed in Germany about 250 years ago (79-81), two different places, an Army field
unit in Bad Krueznach (near Mainz) and a major Army hospital in Landstuhl (near Kaiserslautern and Ramstein Air Force Base). Landstuhl 2nd General Hospital is where they air-lifted the wounded from Iraq. I was there during a major catastrophe - we sent a special special forces unit to rescue the Iran hostages and something went terribly wrong, the survivors came through on my shift. Pretty sad. Other than that I did my best to drink myself into oblivion with all that good, warm German beer and wine. Met some good people, had a good time.

You are a nurse? Wow, I really admire that. i toyed with the idea of being a ped. nurse for quite a while. Ended up in speech instead.

>the survivors came through on my shift.
Good God, how stressful. i bet you don't watch ER because it's too real, huh?

My bro-in-law's in the Army and was stationed in Goppingen. I got the benefit of getting to visit during a few weeks for 3 summers in a row. My sister just happened to be fairly fluent because she took German in high school (i don't know why...a cute teacher, maybe)and college. They didn't even live on Post-I can't imagine how hard that must've been. But she's like that...you know, flexible, ballsy and independent. Freaking Super Sis. Hate that. Yeah and she got the blonde hair, green eyes and...and...Ok we can see I have a bit of a complex. Shake it off, Kar, shake it off. The cool thing about him being in the Army is that they happened to live in some cool places that I could visit. They were near Seattle for a while too. And you know it's all about ME ME ME, right?

Take care
Karen

I'm an x-ray tech, don't usually watch shows like ER because I've seen it, seen it, seen it. I was in peds for awhile, worked at a Shriners Orthopedic Hospital for 5 years (I couldn't handle a burn unit). I liked working with the kids but a lot of the parents were just awful, they always knew a hell of a lot more about your job than you did.

How great that you took advantage and went to visit Germany while your sister lived there! My parents (Dad & stepmother)lived in Hong Kong for 10 years, while it still belonged to the British, and I never made it over there. I kept telling myself that I couldn't afford it but I should've begged or borrowed or stolen the money, I should have just gone somehow.

I have one of those brave sisters too, after my son she's the light of my life. She just moved back to Texas from Oahu so I'll be able to see her once in awhile. She says that after 3 years on the island, what's important to her now is family. After emerging from years of depressed self-isolation, I'm starting to feel twinges of that myself...we all used to be pretty dysfunctional but we're starting, each of us in our own way, to get our act together. I hope.

You do *not* have to create an alias if it says you're blocked. In fact, doing so increases the duration of your block:

Texas, that huge enormous state. Both Mom and my sister live in Dallas, my grandmother in Athens
which I think is about a two-hour drive from Dallas, which I know is considered right next door
in Texas. I lived in San Antonio once for the good part of a year - well, Fort Sam Houston.
So where do ya'll live, gal?

White Rabbit--
I had no idea you had a texas contingent! I was born in Dallas as was my sis and mom, but was a military brat so traveled some (lived in Germany), finally, after a few other states, settled in Austin! Not far at all.

I hope you will let me know if you're gonna be in the Dallas area. It's a quick trip, and there are a few people you need to meet, and maybe get that pedicure with purple toenail polish done!
