Hi Phil,
Thanks for asking. I am still seeing this new man, who I still think is wonderful. We've had long, romantic dates, and he talks about the future letting me know we are in a committed relationship. He's exciting. I guess I'm playing my cards, at the moment. I still haven't told my boyfriend that I am dating someone else. To be perfectly honest, I'm afraid that if I found out my new boyfriend had a horrible flaw, or if he dumped me, I would be left alone. I know I'm not being fair. I feel guilty, but people do this all the time. As for his previous addictions, I see no sign that he is likely to relapse. I'm just living my life right now, being my flawed, but I hope loveable, self.

Hey, we all have flaws. I'm happy you've found someone that makes you happy.

Cass, your relationships with both may just evolve on their own without you being dishonest to either.
If this new man IS for you, I'm happy for you. In no way did I mean that anyone with a previous addiction is not suitable as a mate. If it's something he continues to work on & doesn't lose interest in continuing his ongoing rehabilitation (it's life long, I'm sure he knows it), he may be the perfect mate for you.
Your old boyfriend may simply change over time into a comfortable, close friendship without the physical intimacy. I see no reason why a couple cannot have good friends of the opposite sex than them. You may feel more open with him about this other man after a while. Take care.
This is the end of the thread.
