Does anyone out there know what the term "Axis II designation" means in the context of a diagnosis of major depression? I know St. James would tell me that I could find this out for myself, but i'm not quite sure where to look. Thanks ksvt

"On Axis II are personality disorders, usually diagnosed in adults, and developmental disorders including mental retardation, diagnosed in children and adolescents. Axis II is also used to report maladaptive personality traits. All the remaining mental disorders of adults and children and associated conditions are recorded on Axis I." http://crab.rutgers.edu/~wpuentes/Unit_IV_Notes.html
