i've been thinking about that. a lot. it is an important part of a tradition in philosophy (that i know nothing about)... but it is something that i know nothing about.
this disability rights thing.. something bob said, even... it got me thinking about 'other'.
i did use to think that i wanted to become a p-doc. before... when i was applying to do my phd... and a guy from the spanish department applied to med here, and got a place and i thought 'oh -- i would like to do that!'. it turned out both his parents were doctors... i didn't realise quite the significance of that at the time...
but now i'm quite careful to say 'its okay -- i don't want to become a p-doc'.
and partly i think this. i DO. but partly... it is just about trying to reassure:
it's okay.
i'm OTHER
i understand that.
i'm not trying to be accepted as one of you.
of course not.
what am i
?
crazy
?
This is the end of the thread.
