I used image relaxation and bi-lateral stimulation

Posted by happyflower on October 11, 2007, at 7:12:39

Last night I had to play my solo that I have in an uncoming concert, in a recital. Before I went I had a lesson. Before the lesson I did some of the suggestions that my T told me about. I did image relaxation (or whatever it is really called)while doing by bi-lateral stimulation. I had my arms crossed over my chest while tapping my hands on both shoulders alternately.

So before my performance I did the same thing because I was feeling very nervous like lately .
Well when I went up to play after these exercises and , I felt a little nervous, but yet I felt an inner calm. I played the solo with ease and to a level I felt very good about.( and it was a challenging piece I just got 2 days ago) It was amazing because I have been fighting this stage fright since Nov. since then I have shaking, sweating fingers, dry mouth, but this time I actually got through this without those symptoms taking over and effecting my quality of performance and am happy about my performance. I am so relieved. Now if I can do it in front of a big audience...

This is the end of the thread.
