I just needed to share this w/ folks who will understand.
I have been having a bad couple days. I really have been having a bad several months (years?) but things have been really rough lately. On Wednesday, I got some sh*t at my job, which was really hard to take b/c my job is the one thing that keeps me going. And I feel lonely and hopeless and I have been crying a lot. And I'm changing my meds around, so it is hard to know how that fits in.
So I had therapy today, and as I am standing ready to leave my T says, "I really feel like giving you a hug. Can I hug you?" OMG! I was shocked! I have seen her for 5 yrs and she has never said/done anything like that! Of course I said yes and it was lovely (at the risk of sounding strange, she smelled nice too). I was so touched b/c it was such a genuine expression of warmth and concern.
Just wanted to share. It was surprising, but lovely too.
Best,
EE

You must have a really caring therapist who really wants to help people.
If you ever feel unlucky, like things aren't going your way, certainly you can say you were lucky when you found her!

I'm really jealous. Really, really.
But I'm so glad for you. What a nice surpise. It only took 5 years, huh? Hmm....

I'm glad she gave you something so special EE. Hold on to it - it might get you through some of the rough spots.
My T gave me a hug a couple of months ago - I remember him asking, I remember after, but I have complete amnesia about the hug. I want another, so I can hold it in my memory.

I am glad your therapy is so touching. I am sure you will remember this someday when a client of yours will be so grateful for a little hug. :-)
I it hard to read this stuff and not ache so bad for needing my T to give me a hug but I am glad somebody's T is caring enough.
