I got back together with my ex. We both had sexual partners over the time we were split up and not talking. For some reason, the fact that she had one makes me doubt myself. (bad things emotinally happened as a kid- I'm insecure). Does self-esteem counseling really work?

Ive never had self esteem counselling but I imagine it could be very helpful. Must be like cognitive therapy? that has relatively high success rates.

I'm not familiar with the term. How do they go about concentrating on self esteem? How is it different from regular therapy?

There's different types of counseling- Cognitive behavioral therapy, classic psychotherapy, dialetic behavior therapy, etc. Self esteem therapy (I think) has more focused goals and strategies to attain them
