I have been talking to her at the gym, and in yoga class. Well she is 67 years old and has run the Boston Marathon for the first time at age 65! So for the last month I have been calling her "marathon women" for the last month.
Well today I started talking to her more personally while we were working out. She is a private social worker.
Well her story is that her husband died of cancer while she was in her 30's. This brought her to counceling for about 6 years. Well she was a scientist at that age, but through therapy she reshaped her life. She went back to college in her 40's and got her "therapy licesene".
During therapy her T used to tell her that she shouldn't be in a scientist lab, she should work with people because she is a natural at it.
So she started to change her life in her early 40's. Went to back to college, started to work out, and went to therapy to take care of mental issues. (kinda like me) LOL
Well now she works with families of terminally ill children. She had been doing this for about 20 years. She still keeps in touch with a lot of the families for the last 20 years She says she feels sometimes it is the first "bond" that they have had and she feels it is important to keep the bond. Maybe not be in their everyday life, but still in their life. She says that you don't stop caring about your clients just because therapy stops with them. She is sent mothers day cards and she meets with them for coffee or lunch. It was truely inspirational to me.
It is nice to know there are good people in the world. She says I am doing what she did in her 40's , and she is so supportive, saying I am doing the right thing. She is an angel. :) Now I call her "wonder woman" .
She had taken in families of kids who would have been sent to a foster home separted from each other. One girl was dianogned with retardation, and within a year of working with her, she got on the honor roll in school. Such a sweet lady she is, I want to be like her someday. :)

Wow, she is awesome, what a good friend to have. You gotta love the positive connection you have with her.

She sounds so great. It's always great to have a connection to those type of people
