...happened today.
I reached out, for help
To a Man I haven't seen in years,
Who was so important in my life
As my "boss", for
an eternity of time.
I called him, asked if I could see him,
Meet me at one o'clock, I said,
at Starbucks
and he said, "Okay" (!)
and we met, and we hugged
out on the sidewalk,
he said "Look at you, you look great!"
and we talked, about
what our work was like, for us,
and what our relationships
there, meant to us.
We talked about people we knew, for years,
people with misfortunes,
bad tempers, bad ideas, good hearts --
people who'd died, people who made us laugh,
and some who still do.
And in our talking, we made friends as we never had
in all the years we worked together
And he said what I'd meant to him,
by telling me what my work was like,
and what my character was, and is still...
and he looked into my eyes
and I looked into his,
and we were Friends, forever.

...in my life, today, that I realized what matters is not only how someone feels about me, but how I feel about them. I can love you when I know you, and that love is a free love, you can roll around in it and enjoy, because I give it to you freely, and want only your love in return. Only that. Nothing more. I may never see you again, but I know you well enough to give your eulogy, and it would be beautiful.

Wow, I must've been under the influence. I still like it though. I still like myself today. More, actually, since I'm exorcising old spirits. Amazing life changes when soul tumours are excised. I said it first.

Well, then, perhaps one day we can meet, and I can give you fodder for my eulogy too.
Speaking of which, I went to a funeral a couple of years ago and the eulogy was done by one of the directors, not a man who knew the deceased personally.
It was the saddest thing I've ever heard. Nothing personal, nothing touching, nothing reminiscent of the man himself.
And again this year, another funeral done by a pastor of the church the lady attended. Dry as h*ll with too many references to "God" and the afterlife and not enough to the lady herself and her contributions to other's lives.
Enough to make you not want to die, heheheh.
This is the end of the thread.
