this is the defetion i got from it off a web site since i could nt explain it in my own words....
A crucial phase of psychoanalysis during which the analysand reacts emotionally toward the analyst, treating the analyst as a parent and reliving childhood experiences in his or her presence. It enables both analyst and analysand to examine previously repressed conflicts in the light of present-day reality.
