Think about this.... (will trigger)

What happened in New Orleans has been predicted for 30 years or more. It wasn't the hurricane that killed so many, it was the flood waters. Only 4 months ago, a special aired on PBS about what could happen (and did.) When it did happen, none of the officials seemed to grasp the magnitude of devastation and respond until it was too late and things were completely out of control.

Are we all together so far? They new it COULD happen, but perhaps did not believe it WOULD happen until the day or 2 before the storm hit, which did not leave enough time to be fully prepared. (We won't go into whether or not they CARED that it could happen; that's another debate.) The weather is not accurately predictable too many days in advance.

Now think back to New York City on 9/11. I do understand the situations are different, no flooding to deal with, but both are major events concerning catastrophic devastation and requiring a tremendous emergency response. They were predicting 10,000 dead in the WTC when it began, just as has been predicted there will be 10,000 dead in NO alone. There are similarities. Make sense?

Now let's go back a little farther to Pearl Harbor; a surprise attack on the United States. Oops, that's right! It wasn't a surprise, was it? The government knew it was coming. They just forgot to tell all those people in Hawaii, and all other citizens of the United States, didn't they?

So if we apply some logic-- it's how many years after WWII? Communications, technology, weapons, etc., are MUCH more advanced. How could they have NOT known the attack was coming to NYC? Why did things run so much more smoothly in NYC? They didn't even have the 2 days to prepare!

My conclusion is that they did know it was coming. Not just that it COULD happen, that it WOULD happen and WHEN.

I will go a step further and suggest the gov't had planned to use the 9/11 spin to engage the US in a war, just as was done with Pearl Harbor; they're just not as good at spinning as they thought they would be-- maybe Americans aren't as gullible as the gov't would like us to be.

Concerning Katrina, I think that we had a "It will never happen to me." I am still amazed that the place in which I was born and spent so much of my life is receiving worldwide attention. New York, as horrible, as I thought it was did not quite hit home with me. Katrina happened in my "backyard."

As a U.S citizen, we watch things that happen in third world countries, and we think it will never happen here.

Louisiana has been trying to get the Federal Government to realize just how much of the wetlands we are losing every year in Louisiana. Maybe now we will get grants needed to help stop erosion.
