Hi everyone! I´m just starting on Ixel (live in Argentina where Ixel is approved for sale) and I´m having a hard time with it. My problem is mainly lack of energy, daytime sleep and insomnia thru the night, plus pain in my legs not linked to any specific problem, and that in turn is what´s making me depressed, I sleep all day and nothing through the night, wasting my day just sleeping. Before this I was on Wellbutrin on and off, my libido increased too much plus tinnitus and dizziness didn´t let me go beyond 150mg a day. So my doctor suggested giving Ixel a try to counteract my pain and lack of energy. So far I got the nausea, chills, goosebumps and allergy, but I´m decided to tough it out until at least two weeks pass by. My best combo so far lasted 5 months and was 5mg Prozac and 200mg Sulbutiamine. I was in a sunny mood, getting up early without any problems, and although I still had to fight daytime sleep it was only a couple of days a week. I had to stop Wellbutrin last year due to 2 falls that hinted my pdoc to think tinnitus was compromising my balance. And, to that, it´s never easy because I get hot flashes and allergies with it. Those of you on Ixel, how are you coping with daytime sleep if any? Thanks!

Sorry for a late reply. This forum doesn't appear to get much traffic compared to the med forum.
You might try dosing the Ixel at different times. Take a larger dose early in the day, a smaller dose later. Take the last dose no later than 3:00 in the afternoon. Maybe take the entire day's dose all at one time, experimenting with daytime versus night time. I found dosing times to have a large effect. My best times were 9am and 3pm, even though I start the day at 5am and start work at 7am. I waited until 9am for the first dose. Then instead of waiting a full 12 hours for the next dose, I would do it in mid afternoon, just 6 hours after the first dose. During one trial I even took the whole dose all at once in the morning and that worked good, except there was always a slight withdrawal type hangover the next morning until the next dose kicked in.
I think if you take the last dose too late in the day, you have too much norepinephrine happening when you go to bed at night. Since that keeps you from sleeping well, then of course you are tired and sleepy during the day.
If I took just the right amount during the day, I felt a slight stimulation. If I took too much, I felt kind of tired.
And it could be your dose is higher than it needs to be. You can't go by what the instructions say or by what works for someone else or by what they used in clinical studies. You have to take a dose that YOU tolerate, not someone else. Take a dose you can tolerate, in a dosing schedule that works for you, and then the longer you stay with it the better you should get. Low doses do work, they just take longer. I found that even 18mg, not even a whole 25mg capsule, was my best dose.

Yes, I was reading your posts and I´m like you, reacting to the smallest doses. These past 3 days I got extremely sleepy after I take the dose, tried increasing it to 50mg but I slept 4 hours after that. I´m thinking of combining with a little Vigicier (maybe 50 mg will do the trick, it makes me very anxious). Thanks for the empty gelcaps tip, unfortunately the´re very hard to get here. I´ll go on experimenting!

To me the nausea, chills and goosebumps suggests that you have too much NE available.
In your situation, I would try to find a dose that was of some use while still being tolerable.
I could not tolerate 25mg/d of Ixel, although it did have a calm that I liked.

If you can't get empty gelcaps, then what you could do is roam the stores looking for something that is sold in large caps. For example, I noticed at a local store, Tyrosine comes medium-large capsules. Just make sure it is cheap so you don't have to spend a lot of money for the capsules. Because you are just going to dump the contents out and use the gelcaps. Just search for anything with the largest caps available that won't cost much. Discard the insides and use the caps.
Even small capsules will work. It is just more tedious to try and push or dump the powder into them. It just takes a little longer, that's all.
This is the end of the thread.
