Any Catholics (or others) out there wish to comment? Please don't quote the Beatitudes..."Blessed are the poor in spirit".., it doesn't provide consolation.

homewood,
I would like to converse with you about the question that you have raised.
The answer that I would give to you would be the answer that I received when I asked the same question when I was in the City of Peace.
Best wishes,
Lou

homewood,
If I interpret your question to be,Do you have to be depressed to follow God? , then the answer to your question is NO!
Depression is never intended for those that are disciples. For the Anointed One said, I came to give you life, and life more abundantly." Also, He said, "In the world you will have tribulation, but in Me you will have peace."
Therfore, depression is not part of accepting God in your life. But many disciples become depressed to the point that they ask for death.
So that is the time to examine your situation.

homewood,
I take it that you would have some way to not continue, which would be suicide?

Kiddo,
I also wanted homewood to clarify what he meant when he said , ...do we have to endure beyond depression....
For if he is saying that he can not endure beyond depression, then I wanted to know what he considered in that statement and if sucide was what he meant or not.
So I was seeking clarification as well as you are.
Thanks for your interest in this perplexion.,
Lou
