I've always wanted to cut my own hair and never had the moxie to do it. I get nervous just looking at the colours in the pharmacy aisle.

And

I've always wanted to be rescued by a hairstylist.

maybe you can be edgy now?
go blonde or red or whatever you want, it's a blank cheque now!

sigh

My daughter shaves some of the side of her head, and lets the long hair flop over it.

Maybe you could do this with your hair at the back?

Or maybe do a Sinead O'Connor and shave it all off?

Glad it worked out but for extra insurance next time, maybe you can use a Flowbee or a RoboCut! Don't laugh, I considered them seriously! It seems like my hair style is such that surely it could be tidied up nicely enough with one of those gadgets, at least once or twice in between salon cuts.

(Main attraction being, sometimes I just don't feel like sitting in a stylist's chair; staring at myself in the mirror; making obligatory small talk; issuing my "verdict" at the end, etc. etc.)

But alas, it turns out that if your hair is much longer than... what was it, shoulder length I think... that even with an available attachment it's hard to do the job right with these thingys. (But someone standing behind you and able to get at it from the proper angle could!)
