Gulp, Two Job Interviews Tomorrow

Posted by Poet on September 26, 2006, at 18:29:40

I'm filled with self doubt and suspicion of why would someone want to hire me anyway? One of the places is where they called me the day before my second interview and canceled.

That they remembered me and thought of me for this new position (she said it's newly created) sounds promising, but twice burned, fool me once, fool me twice, etc. It's like I have a giant neon sign *bases self esteem on career, reject her now!*

I know don't base all my self esteem on career. Look at my other qualities. If I could do that I wouldn't have paid a therapist for four years. Sorry. I got into a rant.

The other interview was set up through a headhunter. Can't hurt, ha, who am I kidding it'll end up hurting.

Keep your fingers crossed and hope I look confident and self assured even if I am smiling through gritted teeth.

You go, Poet! I hope that you have to choose between the two jobs :-)

And I found that the more interviewing practice I got in, the easier it was. Let these people be your guinea pigs, and practice on them.

I'll be thinking of you today.

Congrats on the job interviews. Hopefully you get a choice. And its great that your self-esteem is not based on your job. I'm working on that myself in my head. Love Phillipa

Both seemed to go good. First one said they're making a decision by Friday, the other by Tuesday. I'd take either one, though the first place remembered me after rejecting me and that kind of says that they do like me. Unless I blew the interview. Damn negative thoughts.

I would love to be able to quit my horrible job and have two jobs to choose from. That would be amazing.

> though the first place remembered me after rejecting me

They did NOT reject you -- they just picked someone else. In the world of job interviews, "rejection" looks awfully different. Honey, you ain't been rejected until someone tells you that they haven't made up their minds yet -- a week after they said they'd have a decision -- and are opening up applications again! THAT's what rejection looks like. It looks like, "You're so not good enough that we're going to start taking applications again in order to avoid having to hire you!"

And I'm thrilled that they went so well. I've got a really good feeling for you about that first place. I hope they hire you -- you sounded as though that woman you spoke with there the first time really sounded like a good fit for you. I'm crossing my fingers for that one.

Unless the other is a better fit for you.

Or, of course, you could wait until I can work again, and then I'll hire you. ;-D

It wouldn't be amazing, it would be wonderful. Put out good thoughts and they will come back to you!!! Let us know which job you decided upon :-)

Company number one offered and I accepted. I am excited, happy and a bunch of other emotions that don't feel natural to me. Even my T thought I sounded happy and she's never heard anything close to it. (Yes, of course I called my T, before I even called my husband ;)

I won't hear from employer #2 until next week, and if they want me to come in for a second interview I will. Who knows they might offer me something even better. Woah, that was optimism. Another new feeling.

Woo-hoo!!! Get used to those emotions!!

Nice balance for the negative ones, no?

I don't *need* the smelling salts 'cause I had no doubts.....at all....

It's just all about timing...and it's so hard to wait and not understand *why* other times in the past weren't the *right* times.

But, you've made it to this point with your job-from-"the-very-hot-place" and all, with grit and just putting one foot in front of the other...which is often what's required....and now....savor this moment!

I am soooooooo happy for you, Poet!!!!

Congratulations to Company number one for remembering you and getting a terrific addition to their staff. :)

Felicitations to you. I hope that you have a positive experience with them.

Do you think you'll be able to work effectively without the smell of sulphur in the air?

{ducking}

{running away}

You already know how I feel about this, about my reaction to it, so I won't tell you again. I will say, though, that the MonsterCat is walking more steadily now. He still has the shocking pink vetrap on, though. I think it's a striking fashion statement...

even though I had to try on 20 (I counted) pairs of pants until I found a dress for success pair that fit. I bought a blouse in teal which is a color even self hating me has to admit I look good in. I bought a new pair of shoes, too. I want my first day on the new job to be in a totally new outfit. A new me.

Hi 10der,

I can feel less heat from those flames already. I guess it was timing: my new boss found my resume online and called me. Someone came to me!

Hope this happy feeling lasts and the next two weeks at the *very hot place* goes quick.

Hi Annierose,

I'm glad I'm not the only one who calls their T for when exceptional things happen. Though I'll bet both of ours appreciate it because usually they only hear from us when we're falling apart. Mine anyway.

I think buying a new outfit is a great idea! Sounds perfect. I know for myself, sometimes when I feel my clothes are "the best I can be", I feel more confident and together. I even feel that way when I get my hair cut - I look more professional and therefore I project that.

Good Luck! Have Fun! And remember, you won't remember everything they tell you on the first day. They know that too.
