Getting things done

Posted by curtm on September 3, 2006, at 17:57:12

I hate saying I am going to do something because if I don't, I feel like such a loser. I always do this to myself. I hate engaging in conversations about goals because I feel so fake. I make lists of things to do sometimes and just throw them away. I push out thoughts of goals because I will make excuses to procrastinate. Will I ever become goal oriented? Am I doomed to an stagnant life?

I'm scornful about goals. Whether it's because I think they're beneath me, or because I never do anything, or because I want to be entertained and goals are just no fun to think about. It's not like taking drugs and being bamboozled by quantum mechanics, is it?

Declan I can see you now spralled on a beach or Mountain climbing. Hey do they have those huge cockroaches as pets where you are. I heard they're big in Melbourne. Not the size as pets. Love Phillipa sorry off the topic

Mountain climbing is not off topic, if you listen to Robert Pirsig.

Goals are like mountain climbing. When you reach the top, you find yourself on barren ground. If you missed out on taking a look around while you were climbing, then you've missed the point.

It's the sides of the mountain that sustain life, not the top.

I don't climb rocks, but I was really touched by this post. I'm sure I can apply it to something else. Thank you FLB :)
