Real quick, i got preg. at 16, got married, got divorced, had a rough go, but through it all, kept my daughter in the forfront. she is now almost 16 and beautiful, smart, confident, etc..For most of her life ppl would say "wow, u did a good job raising her since you were so young yourself" and i prided myself in that. But now my parents (step and mom) think all the sudden i dont know how to raise my girl. They said today, that i have the same education level as her. Since i dropped out of HS at 17. So, basically, for me to give her advice or guidence is ridiculous since I am mentally the same as her!!!!!!!!!
I think that is the most hurtful comment i have ever heard. I am not stupid. I went to a few years of community college while working f/t and raising her. These types of comments are all to familiar coming from my so called parents.
Am i just overreacting????
Help..

Ignore your parents. School is not the only place you can learn, and I'm sure you've gained a lot of wisdom as a mom raising a good and decent daughter.
Your parents need a refresher course on what's important in life.

I know people who do not have a highschool degree and are smarter than some who have college degrees.
Hats off to you for doing a great job with your daughter. Keep up the good work!
