Sceletium Tortuosum anyone?

I thought I saw threads about this in the past, Can't seem to find them now. Sounds interesting. Thinking about giving it a try.

Former poster,

I tried sceletium tortuosum, also known as kanna, a few years ago. For some reason, taking one drop from the tincture version of the herb that I was taking seemed to improve my energy and concentration and reduce the severity of my hypersomnia, but taking more of it ended up worsening my energy, or so it seemed.

For whatever reason, the benefits that I noticed from sceletium tortuosum lasted for about a month, and when I went back to try the herb again some time later, it didn't seem to have any effect on me. I wish I knew why I noticed such a response pattern and why I also seem to notice similar response patterns to other supplements and herbal products. My responses to most herbs and other supplements seem to be fairly atypical, so I wouldn't necessarily expect that your response to sceletium tortuosum will be the same as mine was if you end up trying it.

Best of luck to you with the herb if you do give it a try.

Thanks Thomatheus. You've been a valuable contributor to babble for a long time.
Your response to Sceletium sounds similar to my response to Rhodiola. Still, I'm thinking about giving it a try. I'm on a few heart medications. I hope there is no interaction.

Former poster,

Thank you for your reply. WebMD doesn't list any interaction information for sceletium tortuosum, but I wouldn't view that as a guarantee that sceletium tortuosum doesn't interact with anything. I know that sceletium tortuosum inhibits the reuptake of serotonin, for instance, which would pose a major interaction if the herb were to be taken with an MAOI, yet the WebMD site doesn't list MAOIs as interacting with sceletium tortuosum. So, please be careful. I think it would be best to run your plans of taking sceletium tortuosum by a medical professional, and it would probably also be best to start out with a low dose of the herb so you'll know how a little bit of it affects you.

Having said what I've said, though, I wish you the best with the sceletium tortuosum if you end up taking it. And thank you also for your compliment. It's much appreciated.

Haha Tomatheus,
this seems to be your pattern!
Hang in there.
