I'm about to start day 4 of a juice fast. Overall, I'm feeling OK, but I'm having problems with insomnia (which is weird, since I thought calorie restriction would make me tired) and also with my skin. I use Retin-a for rosacea. The stuff works great. Now that I've been juice fasting, though, my skin seems more sensitive to it. My skin feels dry and tight, and its weirdly shiny. I'm also having a problem with scalp flaking (mild) even though I'm using an anti-dandruff shampoo daily.

I could only sleep 5 hours when I was doing a juice fast. It makes sense to me as I always sleep better on an empty stomach. I don't think fasting necessarily makes you tired. It may at first, but many people report feeling more energized during a fast.
Are you drinking plenty of good water also? I can't come up with a scientific reason for your skin reacting oddly to fasting. You might want to go over to MindandMuscle or Imminst and make post over there.
This is the end of the thread.
