Vitamins and Insomnia help ADHD

Posted by ADDfazed on May 26, 2010, at 9:05:57

Can someone tell me if the vitamins in this tablet have anything in them that could cause insomnia or anxiety?

The reason I wrote ADHD is because I have the opposite effect in taking most things others can take for insomnia. They keep me awake.
Like Valerian and Melatonin, 5-HTP and many other things prescribed using good brands by a Naturopath. (excluding the Able Eyes vits)

For example I've read that taking Fish Oil can cause insomnia. Something that can help with this
it to start off slowly and increase the dosage.

By the way the Able Eyes vitamin I have started taking 1 every other day to begin slowly.

I will post a link for the
if the link doesn't work

From reading the Supplement Facts, it doesn't seem that anything in Able Eyes could cause insomnia or anxiety. It just may be that you have insomnia and anxiety because of your condition. You can address the insomnia and anxiety with either medications or specific supplements. There's not enough fish oil in that supplement to cause insomnia. Balancing your calcium and magnesium levels can go a long way to helping improve your insomnia. I use magnesium citrate and chelated calcium (like calcium citrate) taken at bedtime only. It is important to balance the two. For example, I take a 1:1 ratio of calcium:magnesium, that is 500mg of magnesium citrate with 500mg of chelated calcium at bedtime only. I don't know your situation, but if that doesn't work, there are other herbs that help with sleep besides Valerian, and of course, some medications, but even with the meds, you might have to try more than one until you find one that works. I like using natural methods first before going to meds, but sleep meds can help if you can't sleep at all.

Thanks Lao Tzu for the reply.
I think I will try the magnesium and calcium balance.

If you do try it, don't use magnesium oxide. It doesn't work as well as some of the other chelated forms of magnesium, like magnesium citrate. Also, try to use a chelated form of calcium as well. I didn't have much success with plain old calcium carbonate.
