I thought i would just post what i have come to know in my search for natural treaments of bipolar disorder in myself. I have found that the main factors involved are dopamine, glutamine, acetylcholine, protein kinase c and a , 5ht1a 2c, norepinephrine, histamine, cortisol, glucose regulation and mitochondrial function.of these the factors of which treatment was most beneficial were; glucose regulation (through diet changes), pkc inhibition (green tea, curcumin), dopamine agonism(green tea, rhodiola, bacopa?), increase acetylcholine (bacopa, phosphatidylserine), 5ht1a agonism(bacopa), cortisol regulation(phosphatidylserine), glutamate regulation(curcumin, b12, phosphatidylserine), mitochondrial function(d ribose, resveratrol)
Please let me know if anyones had similar results and if you have other natural treatments which are very succesful as i am in the early stages of developing a supplement to offer to the bipolar community in my area,no worries there is a doctor involved thanks!

In what way do you feel resveratrol helps your disorder?

I feel that resveratrol helps stabalize my mood ,prevents hypomania possibly through its action on glutamate release or mitochondrial function as both are involved in bpd as well as functions of resveratrol. I feel more stable in general it quells the impatient buzz in my head that feels like built up energy ready to release with any annoying or exciting stimulus. It also prevents the headaches associated with this state which feels like its due to excess brain activity please let me know if you have found anything that helps you too- Thanks ...and please if you have bpd take bacopa monniera and curcumin they have saved my life literally no drug or other remedy has ever helped more and i've been on over forty medications.. cheers

I've tried regular turmeric spice but it makes me irritable and agitated.
I'm going to try resveratrol once pure extract gets available in Europe.

Thank you for the information. I'll look into it. Please keep us posted if you do happen to formulate a supplement that would be a viable option for bipolars. I'm interested to see your results.
