I've got some mood dysregulation, including depression and hyper-happies. Currently taking a cocktail of
lamictal 300mg
abilify 10mg
zoloft 100mg
(sh*t I can't remember it all!!! this is why I need supplement- got brain fog!)
wellbutrin 150mg SRand the occasional
zyprexa 10mg
klonopin .5mg
sonata 10mgWhat do you think? Sam-E is thought to increase DA, which might be fun, unless it's dangerous, which is not too much fun afterall.
I've started to take my vitamins again.

Be careful with SAM-e , its pretty powerful, it can make you feel great, but can also cause major anxiety and caused me to be hypo-manic.
Out of tons of drugs, only SAM-e and Zoloft have made me hypomanic, if that gives you an idea of how likely it is to exacerbate manic tendencies.

It is unpredictable.
I tried SAMe with Parnate, to no good effect.
It made me agitated and afraid.SAMe with tianeptine was OK.
It is contraindicted in bipolar, but I don't understand the biochem.
(It is said to 'modulate' the neurotransmitters.)
I thought SAMe had more of an effect on the production of serotonin, but maybe not??

I've taken sam-e with my meds. I'm on Lamictal, zoloft, and risperdal. It can give you energy, but it can also produce some anxiety. I never really liked it that much for depression, though. There are other things you can take like B12 and zinc combo that I take in the winter. Don't know what long term effects of sam-e are when you're taking meds. I've taken it at most for a few days at a time and it did nothing special for me. If you're prone to cycling into manic states a lot, then sam-e might make it worse. Use caution.

Thanks everyone. I decided that Sam-E was too pricey to use, and probably risky too. I'm gonna post about what I've decided to do instead...

Anyone know what the mechanism is for the reason SAMe is contraindicated in bipolar states?
(Excuse my syntax.)

I've taken in SAM-e in high doses, up 1600mg at a time. I wouldn't exactly call it dangerous. I would probably label it as a weak Wellbutrin-like effect. It never really did much for me. It certainly can't hold a candle to Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Klonapin, Zyprexa, and Abilify in its effects. Not sure why you would want to add it to your current cocktail. Seems like it wouldn't do much of anything, in my experience.
