I have a few questions about DLPA, searching the archives, there seems to be an understanding that DLPA is preferable to l-tyrosine so I'm going to buy DLPA capsules, 500mg each. Are these safe to take with NE boosting meds like Edronax and Remeron (combined)?
Also, I read in old posts that someone found the fatigue relieving effect to diminish after a month or so, anyone that has had a more sustained effect from it?Thanks,
Mattias

The capsules actually contain 250mg DLPA and 250mg turmeric each. I'm not sure what the turmeric does. I tried one five hours ago on empty stomach and the first two-three hours was really unpleasant. I had rapid and strong heart beats and I think my blood pressure was elevated, but I had no means checking it. I had panic attacks and I thought I would have to go to the hospital for a beta blocker or something, but I endured and took 2mg of clon which took the edge of the whole thing.
Now things have settled and I feel somewhat energized and I feel it would not take much to get me irritated or angry and it made me more pro-sexual, so to speak (is horny an uncivil word?). With Edronax and Remeron in my system the DLPA must have been like throwing gasoline on fire. Pretty small dose too, 250mg, of which 125mg at maximum is converted to l-tyrosine.What do you think of this?
Is it safe to try a lower dose, like a half capsule, just to get more energy. I'm not really depressed now but I have these days I could use something more than coffee./Mattias

Sometimes companies mix certain things together without really knowing the interactions. You get a lot of, the more the better, type of attitude with some herbal preparations.
Turmeric can actually act as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor. Wheather at this dose it is having an effect in this regard is unknown.
It is possable though that the MAOI effect of turmeric is adding to the effect of the PEA.

If you ever do get dysphoria from the phenylaline, a good antidote is vitamin C.
I think that phenylalanine has some affinity for 5-ht2a (like a hallucinogen). My friend said that phenylalanine reminded him a bit of mescaline.

I think you're confusing PEA (phenylethylalanine) with Phenylalanine, which is what we're discussing here. I imagine that MAO inhibition would still interact with L-phenylalanine, but it is by no means like a mescaline. PEA, taken with an MAO-B inhibitor like Deprenyl, might be considered as feeling like various amphetamine derivatives, depending on the person.
