Dumb soy question

Posted by curtm on May 31, 2006, at 10:37:16

I have been taking this soy product (50mg Soy Isoflavone Concentrate) because...well, just because. Should I continue? Is there any reason I shouldn't?

There is no such thing as a dumb question, curt. Except for those not voiced, I mean.

Unless you have been diagnosed with at least osteopenia, I see no reason for your use of this substance. If your menopause symptoms get worse, send me a babblemail.

Hi, Curt,

It's not dumb. (Please, just do a google on my posts and you'll see some good ones...er, not that I can remember any of them, displaying their magnitude and importance.)

The evidence on soy, from what I gather, is mixed. Though I eat a lot of it (tofu is a staple in my househould), there have been some studies suggesting that it has hormonal and immune-depressant effects (and potentially neurological effects, as well). If you were taking it for the anti-cancer properties, I'm not sure that soy would be the best route to go (blueberries?), but other folks on the board undoubtedly have a better idea of it than I...

Hi Lar

Have been taking taurine since you sugested it, even while in hospital, since booze destroys Methothine-Taurine.

I was particulated interested in an aquantaince you knew who was a fiece binge drinker, and settleted down after the suppliments?

I have cut down on my alcohol intake, and combined with the benzos (3!) i am scripted, is a good thing.

Please give me more info on bipolar + tau+ Mag in Bipolar states.

Cheers larry
