INTERESTING anti-anxiety/depres. incl Rhodiola

Posted by Kath on March 28, 2006, at 20:24:10

Here's the address of what looks like a really interesting product.

One of the ingredients is Rhodiola, which I've been taking for about 6 months, since I stopped taking Celexa. It works well for me - or at least I am fine without taking Celexa. Whether I'd feel different without Rhodiola, I don't know.

Anyway, thought this product looked interesting.

I think Rhodiola is complete crap and should be removed from the shelves - especially for the kiddies sake.

I really liked Rhodiola, and would still be taking it if it hadn't made my insomnia worse. It's a fascinating herb, but then it comes from Siberia, Golden Root. That would be enough for me even if it didn't work at all.

But Verne, when you said it should be removed from the shelves? What was your experience with it? One of the few things that worked for me (insomnia excepted) was deprenyl and rhodiola, but we're all different.

Hi!

I had a peek - it does look really interesting. And I bet it is effective. However, I would be slightly concerned about the different ingredients in it - not too sure whether they would be 'too much' - you have three things acting on sertonin, ie the SJW, 5-HTP and rhodiola and I dunno, it seems abit 'too much'. But maybe thats good.

I notice that the SJW component they use is hyperforin instead of hypericin -- I think current research suggests that the hyperforin has more AD effects, but that really the whole plant extract should be taken because they don't know how some of it works.

I think the product looks good, but I feel abit hmmm dunno. I think it would be better to take all the ingrediants separtelty, so that you could adjust your dosages yourself. That said, adjusting things takes time and money and the amoryn stuff would be good just to see if you like the kinda alternative things.

For me, I would worry that there doesn't seem to be any studies showing that all the ingredients didn't interact with one another ie the SJW, 5-htp, rhodiola. But then I am paranoid about these things!!!!!!

Let us know what you think too! And whether you try it or not.

Hi

Verne - sounds like you've either had a bad experience with it (or no results) or have read or heard negative things about it. I'm interested to hear your experience.
Also - do you think kids would misuse it?

M - I also wondered about having so many things that work on seratonin.

I won't be trying it because I seem to be doing pretty well right now with just taking rhodiola -& who knows, I might be doing just as well without it, but I've been taking it the whole time since I've been off Celexa, so I'm a bit nervous to change anything!!
