Interested in hearing what you've gotten better results from taking...

Some people respond to one but not the other. Some people can't tell the difference from one to the other. And some people don't respond at all. It's the same old trial and error game.
I'm samplinig 5htp right now. So far it feels like lexapro or zoloft or any ssri, except without the side effects. For me that means I'm still depressed but not as much, at least I'm out of the crying zone, but I have no zeal or vitality for life. Every day is still real hard.
I have tryptophan and will try that in a few days if things don't improve by then.

I agree with blueberry, this is the way 5 HTP worked for me, and no side effects. I took it for quite some time, then was able to go off with no withdrawl.
Recently I felt I needed it again, and at 100 mg, I felt it deepened the depression, but I didn't try going to 50 to see if that would be better. Go with the lowest dose the helps, like maybe 50 mg. a day. IMO if you go higher than you need, it is paradoxical.
I didn't have much luck with L-Tryptophan, but like blueberry said, everyone's diff. and you have to see what works for you.
