Anyone had or heard of St Johns Wort withdrawals?

Posted by blueberry on November 24, 2005, at 7:10:14

Just wondering if anyone has experienced, or heard of someone experiencing, withdrawals from stopping sjw.

I'm looking back and wondering what happened to me. I was on 600mg sjw for 3 months in combo with 10mg prozac and 5mg zyprexa, doctor approved. I weaned off sjw fairly fast. Suddenly I had severe anxiety for the first time in my life, severe tremors and shaking, I thought it was severe akathisia, and I was suddenly completely intolerant of prozac...it felt like rocket fuel. I had all the symptoms of benzo withdrawals. I saw a case report where a woman who added sjw to her ongoing zyprexa experienced a 300% increase in her zyprexa blood levels.

I can't figure out what happened. Was it sjw withdrawals? Was it related to the GABA reuptake inhibition of sjw? Or glutamate? Or sodium channels? Serotonin levels dropping too fast? Dopamine stimulation going into overdrive after having the reuptake inhibition of sjw removed? Was I withdrawing from artificially raised zyprexa levels?

Any thoughts would be cool. In literature there is no mention of sjw withdrawals. But I wonder. I sure as heck went through some very scary almost hospital kind of stuff, and it lasted about 2 months.
