New research says OCD may becaused by defects in PKA and PKC.PKA controls the reuptake of se.and PKC prevents the reuptake of SE.THE OCD takes place in the caudate when SE is not removed from the synapse. The signal is not terminated and you cannot stop the thoughts. In people, with ocd, ssri drugs remove SE from the synapse. You have the t2a se receptor ,which creates a brain signal, when activated and the T1A se receptor that terminates the signal, when activated.SE must be removed from the synapse for a brain signal to be terminated.THe brain cells must be polarised by choline. They have found, that people with anxiety disorder, have a shortage of T1A se receptors.Maybe they lack the ability to terminate the anxiety response.Fish oil helps grow receptors.

The only thing I disagree with is:
"In people, with ocd, ssri drugs remove SE from the synapse"
SSRI's are serotonin reuptake inhibitors. They block the metabolism of serotonin by the human serotonin transporter SERT. In effect they leave more serotonin in the synapse.

I have read that they have an opposite effect in people with ocd.

Since people suffering from OCD and other Anxiety Disorders are also thought to have less serotonin than they need, SSRIs were found to work in the treatment of anxiety too.SSRIs work by inhibiting reuptake of serotonin in the presynaptic nerve ending, which allows more serotonin to increase in the synaptic cleft, where it is needed. SSRIs are "selective" because they appear to have little effect on norepinephrine and dopamine (two other neurotransmitters)
