Earlier today, I went into a store looking for a can of iced tea from the refrigerated section. Every single iced tea had Ginseng added, and a few of the brands had some other herbs added. All I wanted was plain iced tea without all the herbs. Do any of you take Ginseng? If yes, why do you take it? What does it do for you?

Hello Sarah
When there was that talk about adaptogens I took it in various forms. I've since learnt that I have what is known in TCM as damp heat and a spleen deficiency. Ginseng is stimulating and heating, so it's no good for me, because I'm insomniac and too hot anyway. I imagine all the good things it does would still happen to me (cancer protection and whatever else), but it's not in the formula that my acupuncturist supplies. The amount in the drink may not amount to much anyway.

Hi, Declan,
What is TCM?
I think you are probably right about there not being that much Ginseng in the iced tea. I was just annoyed that I couldn't find a store-bought brand that didn't have all kinds of additives. One of them even had echinacea added! I guess I have to make my own.
