Curry as an antidepressant

I think I am going to try curry powder again. It is a fairly potent MAO-A inhibitor.

Curry powder is a non-standardized mixture of (usually) five spices. One ingredient, turmeric, is a potent COX-2 inhibitor. I'm not familiar with the MAO-A effect of curry. Do you know where you read that?

Yes, I was reffering to tuermeric (curcuma longa??)

http://moodfoods.com/turmeric.html

I have tried it in the past with a definate effect, but I was afraid of possable dietary restritions and so abandoned it.

Supposedly it is much more of a MAO-A inhibitor than an MAO-B inhibitor. Perhaps I can create my own MAO A/B ballance with a combination of tuermeric and fo-ti.

I am going to try to observe a full MAO diet

500 mg/kg dosing!

This is a mild MAOI, but turmeric is a powerful COX-2 inhibitor. At a dose sufficient to inhibit MAO, you will already have completely shut down COX-2. I don't think this is a good plan.

I guess back to the drawing board (nm)
