> Linkadgeyeah, i just finished up taking an herbal tincture that had sjw in it and for the last two weeks have been taking 480mg lithium orotate along with it. can't say i noticed diddly squat in that time..admittedly not a great trial. my usual attitude, when in doubt, is 'f!ck it, i'll try it'.

I did a combo of lithium orotate and sjw for around 6 months moderately successfully - not perfect but it did work for depression, some of the mood swings and some of the anxiety. However I quit it in the end; sjw has a tendency to stop working for me after 5-6 months, and the lith orotate along with the sjw was making me feel really bland and unmotivated. I suppose I could have dropped my lith orotate dose just a little but I felt like I needed to drop it completely for awhile - don't know why. Anyway I felt like it was just time to try something else - so it can't have been working that well in the end.
I've never done 'normal dose' lithium though so I can't help you there.

Hi -
yes, I believe it did work for the mood swings. HOwever, sjw has a tendency to make me quite emotionally vulnerable the first month of taking it, and I still got this, even with the lith orotate. So i was still a bit up and down the first month, but thereafter settled to that middle zone that I actually don't like very much. I think that's why I quit it - my mood swings aren't too bad these days on fish oil and I'd like to be at a point where I can still feel the highs even if there are a few lows along the way.
Before though i was a mess and very depressed, irritable, insomniac - just very unbalanced as well. When i first tried lith orotate it simply felt like a godsend.
Combining it with sjw provided the stability I needed along with a push or lift in mood. One time I tried SJW on its own before, I did end up quite 'manic' I suppose - couldn't sleep, racing thoughts (very creative ones but still too fleeting to put down on paper). I was so super-charged I felt like I could sit down and do a 4 hour piano recital no problem. I must have slept all of 3 hours a night for over 2 weeks at this point but I kept on going of course.
At this point I knew nothing about supplements and their effects. Only the second time around (funnily coinciding with Winter here) did I realize I may need something reputed to stabilize emotions as well as the sjw. Lithium orotate does seem to work for me in that regard. I took 3 tabs a day (each 120mg lith orotate).
These days I don't supplement with it every day - but when I start to feel more unbalanced I'll take 1-2 tabs and that seems to be enough. I'm not sure lithium for me is something I need to take every day. However I've come a long way on the fish oil, and although things aren't perfect, they're far from what they were before.
I also intermittently supplement with liquid lecithin, evening primrose oil, 5htp every night for weird sleep patterns and general multivitamins of course.
So lithium orotate did balance emotions to a degree with me. HOwever it did kind of bland me out - sometimes that can be good, but for me not all the time.

I am currently trying SJW, Ginger, and Fish Oil, and a multivitamin.
SJW is interesting but a little nippy. It helps my anxiety but it still gives me that unsettled feeling.
I have prescription lithium available, but it always makes me feel really grey. It also never seems to mix with anything. If I take lithium, I almost have to take it alone.
