I started taking it recently and it gives me had a BAD throbbing headache. I've been mixing it with a small amount of picamilon since I read they may work well together. I've tried both alone and it's definately the Piracetam. I came across this quote which I won't link to because they sell stuff without a prescription.
"because Piracetam is a cholinergic/glutamatergic activator, there is the potential for symptoms related to cholinergic/glutamatergic excess to occur, especially in those unusually sensitive to Piracetam. Such symptoms - anxiety, insomnia, irritability, headache, agitation, nervousness, and tremor - are occasionally reported in some people taking Piracetam."
I don't understand what this means, is there anything I can do that might help the headaches? I tried taking more magnesium as recommended but it did nothing. I really want to make this stuff work, it seems to have a positive effect. I almost never get headaches and neither ibuprofen or even a couple vicodin will touch it.
Oh my current meds are 200 mg Lamictal, 30 mg Cymbalta and 50-100 mg Trazodone for sleep sometimes if that might make a difference.
Thanks
Rick

Note: That when they said these side effects are due to cholinergic excess, it might mean that your cholinergic systems are maxed out. Ie you might want to try a different nootropic route.

So you don't think that this side effect may go away in time, maybe by working up from an even lower dose? Isn't there anything I can do to counteract it? What would be a better nootropic option?
Thanks

These headaches could mean that your dosage is too high or that you are "low" on acetylcholine. Try adding a choline source; alpha-GPC capsules from smi2le.biz are a good deal.

Yes in fact that's where I just got the pica and piracetam from. While others have allegedly had problems with him consider the source. Some of them are his competitors. I have always got my stuff without any issues. This last time he shipped it priority even though I didn't pay extra for it because they were out of creatine. Just my experience.
